Why Air Duct Cleaning is Important

The obvious answer is: ‘Because they get dirty’. But we will expand on this and how duct cleaning is performed.

The air inside your home is full of tiny particles like dust, pollen, and pet dander (definitely not a pleasant mental picture). When your furnace or air conditioner draws air, it also draws in these airborne particles. Over time, these contaminants build up inside the ducts.

Like furnaces and air conditioners, air ducts require regular maintenance and cleaning to perform properly. Regular cleaning and maintenance can reduce your energy bill, improve air quality by removing on average 6 pounds of dust per duct cleaning. That’s a lot of dust!

What is Air Duct Cleaning?

Air Duct Cleaning is the process of cleaning debris from air ducts, registers, grilles, and other components of a forced air system. Since ducts are hidden behind walls and above ceilings, the only way to effectively clean them is a high-powered, truck-mounted vacuum and compression system.

We recommend annual air duct cleaning if you have pets, sensitive to air quality, respiratory health issues and/or allergies.

Importance of Duct Cleaning

Maintaining Good Air Quality - the air passing through the ducts is the same air you and your family is breathing everyday. These contaminants are pulled into the HVAC system and re-circulated 5 to 7 times per day, on average(yuck!). Over time, this re-circulation causes a build-up of contaminants in the duct work.

Boost Energy Efficiency - Dust and debris restricts the flow of air to and from the components of your HVAC system. When the ducts are clogged, your furnace or air conditioner must consume more energy to do its job. Keeping ducts clear will ensure your units can perform at peak efficiency. Who doesn’t like saving money, right?

Protect Heating and Cooling Equipment - A dirty ventilation system can lead to clogged air conditioner coils, contaminated blower wheels, and other issues that result in costly repairs. No one wants to deal wit that! Making duct cleaning a part of your maintenance routine will extend the life of your HVAC system.
